“You looked shocked my child, surely you knew that your new Horsemen were the same army of angels that fought in Eden.”
“ Now, hold out your hands Raziel, and accept your last gift from your master. With this scythe anything that stands in your way will fall. It is an extension of yourself, when it falls you also shall fall.” I did as my master instructed of me. In my hands fire formed, crawling around my arm. It danced all the way up to my neck. The heat from this unholy fire burned me with intensity. I closed my eyes from the pain, the fire soon died. Once I opened my eyes a scythe rested in my hands. It burned with the same unholy energy as my master. It was light to wield, I held it up to the heavens in acceptance. Now I had the power to save Mary, I looked down at my Horsemen.
They were disgusting to look at. Pestilence was the one that turned my stomach, his face looked dismantled. It was as if his face was being eaten away by some chemical. He looked up at me with eyes like a child, they held some sort of innocence in them. I felt sorry for him. The Horseman, “War” was the one that captivated me the most, he had red fairy hair that went down his back. He was on his knees in front of me shackled, his arms and legs were bound by iron chains. His eyes burned with such hatred. Famine, the last Horseman seemed as though he wouldn’t help in a fight at all. He looked the weakest of all. He was thin with black short hair, he didn't look like a fighter. His eyes were vague, lifeless, like he had no soul.
I held my scythe up to the stars again, and commanded them to arms. They stood, and in unison let out a war cry that rattled the room. I wanted revenge for what Uriel did to Mary, and me. Yes, I knew where that coward was hiding. I will go to his lair and kill him. I will get the information from him to get Mary back, as well as stop Ragnarok from coming.
I turned leave the chamber that Lucifer led me to, one my way out my master’s voice stopped me. Giving me guidance.
“Raziel, I know you want Mary back, but you must stop Ragnarok at all cost. You will be my eyes, my ears, and my power. You will gain entrance into places that I cannot venture. Go to Uriel, and kill him, but before you do you must get information on the other angels responsible for the onslaught. Now go my Angel of Destruction.” His voice bellowed throughout the hallway as me and my Horsemen left for our mission.
Yes, revenge never felt so good, I exited Lucifer’s castle. This was the first time I saw Hades. It was truly a world of destruction. A world without my former lord, so much pain and sorrow. Angels were working hard, crying for salvation. Why would anyone be doomed to exist in this hell? This depression was starting to weigh on my soul. I had to leave, looking back at my new master’s castle I knew the price of failure. I spread my wings, reminded of my pact with the devil. My wings were tainted black, if my heart still felt pain, I would have wept. My Horsemen, and I flew into the heavens, they followed me into war. Mary, I’m coming for you, the price of me losing my soul was great, but I still long for you. Fear not I am coming for you.
We traveled for a fortnight, until finally we reach our destination, Uriel’s lair. His lair stood outside the nation of Eden. He did this because he was preforming alchemy, it was a skill that was banned from Eden. He practiced in secret, trying to create life. He was trying to become a god, or at least this was his intention. He has failed in his attempts. The price of his failure and jealously was clear, if you knew what he really looked like. He was jealous of me ever since we were in the academy, he was jealous of my skill and power. He was also jealous of my wings, which were beautiful at one time. He practiced alchemy in attempts to make himself powerful, his wings now lay broken and his face scarred. His wings are mechanical, and utterly grotesque to look at. He
wears a cloak to cover his shame.
I stood in front of his lair now, the wind blowing the sands from the desert in my face. His chamber resided underground, my Horsemen were at the ready. Before us stood a heavy iron door, I laughed at the idea of such a primitive thing blocking us from Uriel’s death. I commanded War to grant us access. His power shook the earth beneath us, and the door flew in front of us. Crashing to the ground, dust and sand flew before us.
We entered Uriel’s realm, and shouted for the worm to show himself. His chamber was dark, and I could hear animals in pain, as I walked down the hallway, not really knowing where I was going. The only thing on my mind was revenge and it burned within me, it fueled me. Red eyes glowed from cages, on both sides of us. These were his experiments. This was his so called “army” he created.
“So you want to play god Uriel? I will show you what happens when false angels fly to close to the sun. Come out and show yourself!!” I yelled throughout the hallway, his experiments crying out for salvation. I will give it to them, but not yet, first comes my mission.
A voice broke the cries, it was beckoning me to follow the light. I laughed at the thought. I was already dead I followed the light and it led me to my demise. He was known as the Angel of Light, and his light illuminated the end of the chamber. I was being guided into a trap, he was ready for me. War licked his lips in anticipation, asking me if he shall kill him. I stayed his anger, this was my fight. They were only here to give me backup.
We followed the trap the was being set for us. We were led to the end of the hallway, which housed an arena. Holy light from Uriel lit the top of the arena, I looked around for my target, he will pay for what he has done. His voice paused me, it was coming from all around the arena. My Horsemen let out a war cry that again shook the earth beneath me, they will not let anything happen to their leader.
“Silence you monsters, and welcome Raziel, it has truly been a long time. I thought you were dead. It would have been to your benefit if you just stayed down, but you was never one to give up. You disgust me, why can you not just let me win! Why did you come? Did you come for information about Ragnarok, or is it to save your love Mary?” This angered me I was trying to sense his presence, and it was up above us, I readied my scythe. It was part of me, so it burned with my anger. Black flames erupted from the point, ready for action.
“This is new Raziel, where did you get this new found power? Surely our lord did not give this to you. Ah I see now, you have sold your soul to Lucifer. HA HA even with this power it will not be enough to save you, nor Mary.” He descended from the light that he formed around him, mechanical wings slowed his decent until he landed in front of me. He beckoned me to fight him, he knew what he has started, he could not run and hide. His wings folded back, and he took out a sword from his side. He uttered angelic words, he was casting a spell. I charged at him I mustn't let him finish the spell. It was a spell of enchantment.
“I call upon you holy being. Grant me the power that you an I process. Come before me Echmiadzin Lance!!” Damn it, he finished the spell, he held his sword to the heavens and light circled around the sword, extending the sword. The light transformed his sword into a lance, and blessing it with holy powers.
I ran at him, scythe at the ready, his weapon was bless by his lord, and so was mine. This was going to be an interesting fight. We clashed weapons, celestial energy erupted in front of us with every blow. He was good, he has gotten better from our last bout in the academy. He was blocking my every slash. It was a mistake to gain distance from him, I didn’t have time to think, just to react. I had to break his defenses, I have been in the army longer than Uriel, so he didn’t have the tactical mindset that I had.
Just as I anticipated, once I broke his defenses his attack were starting to get sloppy. He tried to back away from me, this only led to me breaking his defenses again. I cornered him against the wall, he then took to the air. His mechanical wings straining under the extreme pressure of the acceleration, his wings didn’t have the agility that my wings had. I extended my wings and raced toward him. Our weapons continued to clash, celestial energy pushed us both back, but I continued to fight. He shall not win. I flew toward him with intensity, he was not expecting me to travel so fast. I didn’t give him time to react. My scythe hit it’s target, I cut through his left wing. He cried in pain, and it was to my liking. I hovered before him, gazing at my work. As soon as I did this, he blinded me with his holy light. I couldn’t stay in the air any longer and I fell to the ground. I was blinded, but I heard his body crash into the ground.
I raced toward the ground, but I didn't hit it, I was stopped by strong arms. Once my vision returned, I looked at the source, it was War. He saved me. He gently stood me up and picked up my scythe and handed it to me. I stood in anger, a coward move from a coward, I should have realized that he would have no honor.
He laid in front of me holding his dismantled wing, looking at me in sweet pain. I had to finish the job, I walk toward him, I have wounded him, there was no need to rush his death. I wanted him to think about his sins, plus I needed information. I asked him where was Mary.
“Wouldn’t you like to know, how can an angel with no soul still hold ties to the past? Why do you love her so much? If you love her so much then ‘The Desert of Time’ is where you need to venture, that is all I can tell you.” I continued to walk forward, I asked for the name of the other angels responsible for Ragnarok. He answered me with silence, so I continued to walk and I asked again. I stood over top of him now. Looking down at the pitiful being, I raised my scythe. I asked again, I needed this information. I could not return to my master empty handed.
I broke my gaze from Uriel, another presence entered the arena. It was another angel, flames erupted from the right of me. With my tainted wings I withdrew from my target. A wall of fire stood between me and my target. Damn it! I had to kill Uriel and get the information. With my angelic power I analyzed the presence. It was another angel. It was Michael. My comrade that fought with me during the Great War. He was helping Uriel. Beneath the roar of the fire I could hear him.
“Get up, you must not die yet, our lord would not be pleased, we must carry out our mission.” By the gods, Michael was working towards Ragnarok. Did he not know what will happen to us? He was my friend, yes he WAS my friend. I shouted to him, I had to try to reason with him.
“Michael, stop! You don’t know what you are doing. Why have joined Ragnarok? Please don’t do this.” In response I was greeted with his sorrowful voice.
“You have joined the angels of Hades Raziel, plus you are a Fallen Angel. You have no place in my heart any longer, you are no longer a comrade of mine. Our mission is to rebuild this world Raziel, even at the cost of our lives.” His voice faded off, Uriel, and Michael escaped. I was left in awe. I knew now that Michael was the next angel. Michael was correct, I had no place in his heart. I now had information for my master, and I also knew where Mary was. I must stop them at all cost.
